Our volunteers gathered last Sunday to add 100+ more jamun and mango grow bags reusing waste plastic packets in our nursery at Janak Puri. We also watered the existing native tree saplings in the batch.
One of the best part in this whole exercise is the experience of playing with soil... something that we did only as kids!
Once the grow bags are prepared, one can simply insert a finger about an inch or two deep into the grow bag to make space for the seeds.
We usually put two seeds per bag to increase our chances of germination. Even if both the seeds germinate, we can separate them while planting.
.
Once the grow bags are done we take them to a secure place... Essentially, our own saplings bed. We also water them regularly to ensure their growth.
