However, the previous day had been graced by an abundant rainfall, leaving our saplings sufficiently quenched and eliminating the need for additional watering. This unexpected gift from nature served as a testament to the interconnectedness we share with the environment. It reminded us that our efforts, combined with nature's benevolence, can create a thriving ecosystem. Despite the helping hand from the rain Gods, we decided to proceed with the meetup, understanding the importance of maintaining social connections and strengthening our bond as a volunteer community. NO. OF VOLUNTEERS = 5 TRASH COLLECTED = 45 KG As we all move closer to welcome the year 2023, some of our volunteers were kind enough to take our environment to the party. These volunteers happen to be in Jaipur. They conducted a cleanup drive to give our 2022 a fitting conclusion. A reminder that our environment should always have the highest consideration. Please stop littering, more so at tourist places, help preserve the charm of the place! And conduct regular cleanups to help alleviate a place off the garbage, give the garbage its right disposal.

We turned 8! No. of volunteers: 30+ Saplings planted: 80+ We're excited as we complete eight revolutions around the Sun. We thank all the volunteers who've been involved in this journey so far. We celebrated the milestone with a native trees plantation drive in Tihar Lake park. 30+ guests to the party including those from Bhumi NGO, Delhi Chapter and MGOCSM, Janak Puri. We all planted 80+ saplings, including amaltas, arjun, moringa, gudhel etc. As we always say, we'll water them regularly.

No. of Volunteers: 20+ Waste Collected: 120+ kgs A week almost drenched with the downpour in various parts of the city. Literally, it was clouds over our cleanup drive on World Cleanup Day, 17-Sep-2022. But thank heavens (pun intended) the sunshine in the morning put a smile on our faces. Yes, we were able to conduct our cleanup drive as planned. The meetup saw enthusiastic bunch from Bhumi NGO, Social Responsibility Cell, Deen Dyal Upadhyay College, and Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Students Movement, Janak Puri Chapter. Some of these volunteers came from far flung places… truly passion can drive you distances! This cleanup drive was held in a green belt park in A1 block, Janak Puri. The park has a dhalao next to it. And perhaps that’s why some people think that the entire park is probably a dustbin. Yet another photo op... We've been doing photo ops like this for years now. This recent one was conducted in Sainik Farm near Saket. Benefits of such a photo op: We channelized some 45+ kgs of littered garbage into formal waste management system By doing so we helped alleviate the local soil We also prevented the place from becoming a breeding ground of disease carrying vectors The photo op also helped in improving the local aesthetics Such a photo op would inspire people to join our mission or maybe they'll do such photo ops themselves... Either way, it's a win for us! Let's do many more of such photo ops! Yes, the sarcasm is intended... Haha!

ONLY ONE EARTH - This was the theme of World Environment Day 2022. In the quest for life on other planets, we take our only home - our planet, EARTH for granted. We need to remember that we have only one habitable planet and we all should collectively aim to protect it. This Environment Day, our volunteers contributed to our environment by planting a few native tree species: harshringar, amla and amaltas at Dwarka. These saplings have been added along with the already existing saplings which we water regularly. It means we now have more green friends every weekend to take care of! Wait, how could we forget our existing saplings? No, we didn’t. We had compost and water to feed them with. Let's take small consistent steps to protect our environment and celebrate each day as Environment Day!

NO. OF VOLUNTEERS = 12 TRASH COLLECTED = 25 KG A cleanup in DLF Phase 1! Wait. Does that place even require one? Apparently, no! But an hour of manual work and we had 25 kgs of waste collected in our bags demanding the right disposal mechanism. The side track of the main road next to Silver Oaks Society in Gurgaon is prone to open dumping of plastic waste, mostly of the gutkha and pan masala packets, and disposable glasses. Unfortunately, they even escape the landfills or recycling chain. And sadly, they get mixed with the local soil. Soil is the mother of all mothers. Soil is what gives life to the flora. It’s a different avatar of our mother nature. So, we gathered this mother’s day to do our bit towards our super mother. Our volunteers together with Lakshya Foundation collected plastic waste from the stretch and handed it over to FrontMan Waste Handling for its proper disposal. NO. OF VOLUNTEERS = 30 TRASH COLLECTED = 80 KG Earth Day is a reminder that we all need to take care of this big rock that we call home. One of the ways we can take care of our home is by cleaning it up on a regular basis. We gathered on the morning of 23-Apr-2022 to cleanup the area outside Delhi Cantonment Metro Station. This whole patch is a victim of littering. We collected around 80 kgs of waste comprising mostly of disposable plastic glasses and plates, and empty packets of gutkha, pan masala, chips etc. We then delivered the waste to a waste transfer station for its proper processing. Let's not limit to environmental commemorative days to do our bit for our environment. Let's make that a lifestyle. Make every day Earth Day!

  Our home composting workshop at Lodhi Garden yesterday was an insightful session. We thank Project Swabun for making it fun by planning a game around the theme.  Starting with addressing the issue of waste menace, the session covered different types of home composting methods we can practice at an individual level. Thanks to our host Jayant Sethi and our inquisitive audience for making this workshop interactive and being a part in our waste management journey.
