CLEAN COMMUNITY, HEALTHY CITIZENS!
We cannot emphasize upon the significance of cleanliness in our lives for our own well-being. From ancient Indian texts to modern medical science, some of the greatest personalities have always concurred with each other on cleanliness. It encompasses not only our personal hygiene but also communities.
A clean place always relaxes our mind, body and soul. In some parlance it allows a ‘free flow of positive energy’. Obviously, your mood turns off when you come across a garbage dump. But then what do we all do about it? Just walk pass?
Not the volunteers of We Mean To Clean! Since the inception of this movement we have taken the cognizance of the fact that if we want our city clean then we will have to keep it clean. And with our cleanliness drives, we make this humble attempt to convey to the citizens that we all must act responsibly.
With the same thought our volunteers assembled this morning at Sainik Vihar district park – the same park where we have close to 200 amaltas saplings planted. The place is a victim of open garbage dumping from nearby areas. It not only acts as a turn off but also adversely affects our saplings – they too need a good environment for their growth. Moreover, it is also a health risk for those staying around.
Our volunteers collected four bags of garbage and thereafter planted a few more saplings involving the local slum kids. Kids are multiple times more enthusiastic than adults. So much of eagerness to learn and to do! No excuses… just straight to the job! We observed Guru Purnima last week. Do we realize that kids can also be our teachers in many ways? Can we all come together to give these gurus a clean and a healthy environment?
Let’s not litter. Let’s find dustbins instead of excuses. Let’s find toilets instead of excuses. Let’s plant more trees instead of excuses. And let’s realize our responsibility in keeping our city clean instead of excuses. Only then we would be able to lead a healthy life.
We need everyone to do their bit. Join us and help us in our mission!
