Soft Kick Off - Pre-Monsoon Plantation 2018

LET'S PLANT MORE TREES!

Even as Delhi protests against the felling of 16,500+ trees in south Delhi, a couple of our volunteers have kicked off our plantation as we stare at the monsoon in coming few days.

As usual, we are going to plant ONLY NATIVE INDIAN TREES such as peepal, neem, amaltas, banyan etc. and not ORNAMENTAL PALMS used by GOVERNMENT AGENCIES in their FAKE COMPENSATORY AFFORESTATION!

We will start scheduling proper plantation drives on this with coming weekend. We will keep you posted with further details.

WE MEAN TO CLEAN's Recommendations to Achieve a Swachh Bharat - I

India is one big nation. We are rich in cultural heritage. Over century we’ve developed, economically, especially the middle class. Our transcendence can be termed as “a consumerist culture”, where virtually every item purchased comes fixed in a box wrapped in a bubble sheet. In science, this fact reduces time of impact and absorbs the momentum after collision but in reality it is aggregating to an irreparable damage to environment. It is waste generation. Watering and Maintenance of Native Tree Saplings

Yes, you read it right... It’s better than previous years! Doesn’t this act as a ray of hope? A hope for a breathable Delhi! And this hope is something which motivates our volunteers to keep working towards the solution - building and raising natural carbon sinks in the capital. With the same mission, our volunteers went to nurture these carbon sinks - our saplings at Hauz Khas, Sainik Vihar and Sangam Vihar. What happens when many hands come together?

An exciting day for us. We never tried it before at this scale at such a location. But with a little help from everyone the day turned out to be outstanding! The place is Janakpuri District Center. It's a large shopping center in west Delhi. Home to various kinds of shops, eateries, restaurants and even offices. Also, a perpetual victim of civil negligence by those who have an establishment here or the visitors to these establishments. Yes, the place maintains consistency all-year round in terms of open garbage dumping. Before we even conducted this drive we spoke to a lot of shop owners to understand the problem. It was the same lamenting around people's attitude towards littering liberally... Forget littering, people found creative ways to dump their garbage - office letter boxes!
