CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH NATURE!

In order to make people feel attached to Prasad Nagar Lake, we involved them in plantation in the lake park today.

The gesture was well received and much appreciated by the locals. They pledged to take care of the saplings by watering them.

Additionally, the locals also felt more enthusiastic about cleaning of the lake and agreed to cooperate by spreading awareness among the visitors on littering or dropping wheat flour balls in the lake.

As for the actual cleaning process, we had a meeting with DDA officials yesterday, along with their contractor. While the contractor is fixated on the idea of removal of silt only when the lake dries up, we believe it's not possible this season.

Thus, the DDA officials have sought our proposal on the same - how to clean the lake while it is still full of water. Our experts are drafting a proposal on the same and we are looking to submit the same during this week.

However, till then we have to keep our other efforts going on. One of them is spreading awareness among the visitors, which our volunteers are diligently doing. And the other set was leading the scene to keep the park clean by themselves clearing the litter in lake park.

Native Tree Plantation at Ajmal Khan Park, Karol Bagh

Total Volunteers = 16 Saplings Planted = 23 (amaltas, pilkhan) Bottle Caps Collected = 287 Continuing our weekly efforts in the monsoon season of 2019, we returned to the Ajmal Khan park on 10th of August. With a clear objective of planting native trees none needed any briefing on what to do. We had our own volunteers as well as some of the local residents. It was a pleasant morning that helped everyone’s high spirits. The soil was quite hard on the patch we targeted for our plantation. Thanks to the absence of rains and also the minor amounts of construction and demolition waste buried beneath. And we had to dig pits here!
